Gay Community Faces Increased Exposure of Dementia
ORLEANS — Susan Milton knew she would marry Cindy Eagar the moment their hands touched. The two, who now live in Orleans, met at a dinner party hosted by a common friend in Barnstable.
They sat side by side all evening, talking each other’s ears off, Milton said. At one point, they stepped outside to smoke. Milton lit her possess cigarette, then offered her lighter to Eagar. As Eagar reached out to protect the flame from the wind, Milton recalls, “our hands touched, and it was magic.”
Milton and Eagar started seeing each other soon after that night and moved in together before the year was out. The year was Milton described Eagar as the life of the party, always social and surrounded by friends. They were both hectic, too, with Milton productive long hours as a reporter for the Cape Cod Times and Eagar teaching in the Barnstable Public Schools for most of the year and working odd jobs in the summer.

LGBT+ Pride Parade in São Paulo Honors the Fight for Rights and Advocates for Healthy Aging
At 65, Professor Roberto Santos has lost calculate of how many Celebration Parades he’s attended, and had even considered skipping this year. But he changed his mind when he found out the theme was "LGBT+ Aging: Memory, Resistance, and Future."
The theme resonated with everyone, from the young to those with white—dyed or natural—hair. The parade took over Paulista Avenue and Consolação Street in downtown São Paulo throughout Sunday afternoon (22).
Seventeen floats took part in the procession. To reinforce this year’s theme, many prominently featured people over 60 in visible spots.
The parade began around noon, with a series of speeches from politicians aligned with LGBT+ causes. After singing the national anthem, the floats started moving through a sea of rainbow-colored fans.
Drag queen Ditinha Soares, 73, said the theme was "wonderful, because I’m a senior, so this march is for me."
