Dancing around the room like a 6-year-old on Christmas Afternoon isn’t something I do very often. Okay, all it really takes is a good remix on my iPod, but I can say with integrity that I usually keep those choreographed moments behind closed doors. However, when my editor asked me if I would like to represent on a press trip to review the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino in Aruba I found myself repeatedly busting out in a delighted dance, regardless of who was around, until the date I stepped on the plane.

By the time the weekend was over I’d rediscovered my affection of water sports, rubdowns, and result sand in random places—in other words I definitely had a gay ol’ time.

Gay travel tips for Aruba: One Happy Island

Sergio and I just returned from a vacation to the Caribbean island of Aruba, and I wanted to share some of our photos and impressions while we still have the tan lines to prove we were there.

We spent five nights in Aruba exploring parts of the island, checking out other beaches, and eating. The island has many reefs and the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean make it ideal for snorkeling and SCUBA, but Sergio and I opted to forgo such activities. This was truly a &#;fly-n-flop&#; holiday as my friend Tracey put it.

Where the gays are: I possess a hunch one reason same-sex attracted Caribbean cruises are so accepted is because with the exception of Havana, Cuba and San Juan, Puerto Rico, there is no &#;gay life&#; to talk of on Caribbean islands, and Aruba is no exception. Aruba Gay means EVERYONE is welcome on the paradise island of Aruba. Homosexuality does not come across to be an issue on this Caribbean island of friendly, nonjudgmental, glad Aruba people. Perhaps this is partly due to the island’s Dutch Heritage.

Aruba nightlife includes one Aruba homosexual bar called Jimmy’s Place, a Dutch Caribbean Café, located in Oranjestad. It is open Tues. thru Thurs. 5pm- 2am, Fri. & Sat. 5pm-4am, and Mon. 9pm-1am. There are both indoor and outdoor areas to relax, socialize, dance to the DJ’s music, and have amusing. They play Aruba melody, American and Latin melody.
