Vancouver&#;s Gay and Lesbian Bars

Davie St., West Complete. The Davie Village is still dominated by low-design, beer-stained institutions, but (né Tight Lounge) is a shining beacon of finesse. It can feel scamper over by a place of micro-groomed Abercrombie-zombies, but don’t let that maintain you from enjoying the peerless layout: cork-lined walls and polished concrete floors wrap around to a gorgeous unisex bathroom and a cluster of ottomans beneath wall-sized video present. (Owner Robert Heathman—whom, Simpson notes, is a “really supportive” ally—made a brief appearance.)

The Gastown spot used to be nose-to-tail nice dining restaurant Wildebeest, which shuttered in early Rosette ran as a regular pub for a while, before Simpson joined a couple of months ago and suggested the rebrand.

Simpson has worked in the hospitality industry for over two decades, with stints running queer bars on Dav
