LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 4, ) — June is Lesbian, Gay, Attracted to both genders, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month. Celebrated nationally in the United States, Lgbtq+ fest Month traces back to the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan — a tipping point that changed LGBTQ* activism and the queer rights liberation movement in the U.S.
“Each summer, Event is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of identities, experiences and histories in the LGBTQ* group and recognize all who have and continue to advocate for LGBTQ* lives, rights and visibility,” said Rayne Parker, assistant director of the Office of LGBTQ* Resources. “As with other recognition months, this is an opportunity to highlight LGBTQ* pride and advocacy and should proceed to be recognized all year long.”
The Office of LGBTQ* Resources, housed in the Dinkle-Mas Suite in the Gatton Student Center, will be celebrating Pride starting next week.

As part of our progressing commitment to support the LGBTQ+ community, we’re hosting a month-long series of celebrations that will also raise funds for The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ youth.
We accept that everyone should be able to find communities of support, break down barriers, transcend borders and come together around mutual interests and passions. The LGBTQ+ community is one of the cornerstone communities to have found acceptance, representation and a residence on YouTube, and possess been a vital part of making YouTube what it is today.
