"Ottawa is a city of festivals but very few hold the incredible colour and vibrancy of Capital Lgbtq+ fest. As the site of Canada's first large-scale rally for gay rights almost 50 years ago, Ottawa has an important legacy to maintain, and Capital Pride is a necessary part of how we share these stories with the world."

Michael Crockatt, President and CEO of Ottawa Tourism.

This Pride season, Canadians are recognizing the courage and resilience of 2SLGBTQI+ communities across the country, who contribute to every aspect of life in Canada, from business and politics to arts and culture, sports, science, and much more. Southern Ontario is famous globally as a welcoming place for all members of the 2SLGBTQI+ collective and celebrations like Parade boost the overall tourism experience for visitors and residents, while providing ripple economic benefits to local businesses in the region.

For more than 50 years, Pride season has been celebrated across the region with the first large-scale demonstrations

Pride theme: "All Together Now"

The Ottawa Capital Pride Festival, themed "All Together Now," welcomed the community back for an extraordinary celebration of connection, learning process, and advocacy from August 21 to After two years of social distancing and virtual events, the festival offered eight days of vibrant programming, featuring public art installations, new family and youth activities, human rights-focused events, and an expanded Festival Weekend with additional stages.

The theme, "All Together Now," captured the essence of the current moment, providing a vacuum for the collective to reconnect during the Summer Festival. It served as a platform for celebrating with friends and family, fostering learning, and advocating for 2SLGBTQ+ rights. The festival featured thought-provoking community activists, artists, and performers, contributing to the richness of the event.

Acknowledging the collaborative effort behind the festival's success, gratitude was extended to volunteers, team leads, the Youth Committee, Board of Directors, and the assigned staff. Th
